Doll: 14"
Porcelain
Edition Limited to 250
This
ancient Yule legend tells the story of a shepherd girl who longs
to visit the Christ child, but has no gift to bring. Bitterly
disappointed she begins to weep. Seeing her tears, an angel
brushes aside the snow and touches the ground. A delicate rose-
the very first Helleborus Niger "Christmas
Rose"- pushes its way through the snow and is lovingly
carried to the tiny babe.

Doll: 7" Wood and porcelain
There's nothing we love as much
as opening a box and finding a treasure. Tiny Electa Grace fits
into an exquisite curved burlwood case with just enough room
below to hide secrets and treasures. Her dress of sage green
silk is trimmed with a delicate pointed lace that was made in
France nearly ninety years ago.
Edition Limited
to 250
Paloma twirls her skirts anticipating the excitement of the fiesta
dance. Her gauzy white dress has tier upon tier of cotton
lace. Paloma shyly asks that we remind you that she can also
wear all of the clothes in the Lawton Emporium.
Edition Limited to 250 At a
petite 9" tall, this bookworm perches atop a resin book
stack as she opens her favorite book to read. She wears a
pink checked box-pleated silk dress copied from a 1909
McCall's pattern #2615. Her French drawers are trimmed
with antique cotton eyelet. She, too, can wear
fashions from the Emporium.
Doll: 9" Porcelain and Wood
Wendy Lawton believes in telling stories with dolls, but with
this edition of The Lawton Library Collection, you only need to
crack the cover on the leather book box and Lewis Carroll's
enchanting story of Alice unfolds. Our heroine wears the
traditional Tenniel Alice dress with an organdy pinafore trimmed
in black couching. Her exquisite silk white queen dress and
crown from Through the Looking Glass are included. The
Pink Flamingo stands at the ready for a game of croquet, but
you'll have to look closely to see the tiny hedgehog hiding in a
cubbyhole of the book.

Collectors know Wendy Lawton as a doll maker, but she's spent many years crafting words as well. A much-published writer of magazine articles, Lawton 's very first middle grade juvenile fiction series releases from Moody Press (Chicago) in April 2002. Wendy Lawton's mission statement has long been "To tell stories with porcelain and paint pictures with words." In Daughters of the Faith, she deftly combines art with the written word.
"Mary Bunyan and Harriet Tubman, the real life girls who've formed the centerpiece of these stories, come alive as dolls," says Wendy Lawton. "I'm excited about telling their stories in both porcelain and words."

The Tinker's Daughter2002Doll: 11" Porcelain Edition Limited to 350
|
Mary Bunyan, the blind daughter of Pilgrim's Progress
author John Bunyan, knew no barriers. History
remembers that every day the 10-year-old walked the
streets of Bedford to take soup to her imprisoned
father. The indomitable spirit of young Mary is
captured in this doll. She's dressed in authentic
17th century costume and wears the leather pocket in which
she's tucked her Mama's soft blue ribbon and a bit of
rosemary to ward off the foul odors of gaol. An
autographed copy of the book is included.

Courage to RunDoll: 11" Porcelain Edition Limited to 350
|
|
Harriet Tubman epitomizes heroism for her life work in the Underground Railroad, but Courage to Run by Wendy Lawton is the story of her girlhood when faith was born. and courage discovered. She wears a homespun, patched dress, tattered straw hat and much worn work boots. She carries her treasure, the quilt made for her by Old Rit. An autographed copy of the book is included. Meg's Wedding 2002Doll: 14" Wood and porcelain Edition Limited to 175 |
The beloved story
of Little Women is being told in a four year collection- each
year focusing on one of the March sisters. In 2001 we told the
unforgettable story of Miss Jo March. For 2002 we join the
March sisters in celebrating Meg's wedding. Meg, the
eldest, was the homemaker of the March family and her wedding
day marked her coming of age. Her wedding dress is an
authentic recreation of a civil war wedding ensemble, worn over
hoops and crinolines and pantalets. Antique lace, made in
France nearly one hundred years ago, trims the tiers of her
skirt. The simple veil, also trimmed in antique lace, is held in
place by antique velvet flowers. A long row of modest gold
buttons embellishes the jacket. Meg holds a white Bible
and a bouquet of white roses. Also included is Meg's house dress
and apron, because, despite the glow of her wedding day, Meg
looks forward to her life of domesticity. A faux marble dress
form is included to display the extra ensemble.
Many Lawton dealers are able to arrange matched, numbered sets of all four Little Women dolls. see your dealer for details. |
