June Amos Grammer was not
only a much-loved doll designer, but she was a gifted illustrator. Even more
than that, June was a dear friend. In her memory, we have issued a very special
edition, June Amos and Mary Anne. In 1983, June illustrated a beautiful edition
of the poem, Mary Anne by Mary Mapes Dodge. The book, published by Lothrop, Lee
and Shepard has long been out-of-print. Each detailed piece of clothing and each
accessory has been painstakingly copied from June's illustrations, bringing
young June Amos and her doll, Mary anne to life. A portion of the price of every
doll will be donated to the June Amos Grammer Fund at the Museum of New York at
the request of June's husband, George Grammer.
June Amos stands 16" tall.
She has a porcelain head and hands on a fully jointed wooden body.
Mary Anne's accessories
include: Hand embroidered sacque, dress of French lace and Swiss batiste, high
top pink boots, petticoat, underwaist, locket on a chain, hand-painted paper and
wood fan, hat and parasol.
